The Call Home

AFFLICTION
We all still painfully feel that although the Father opted to take Luigi’s spirit back into his realm that some more years could have been granted for Luigi to spend with us but the dreaded Lou Gehrig’s Disease (LGD) was “sent” by the arbiter that finally would signal to us that Luigi needed to move on to a Higher Place. When Luigi was first visited by this LGD he was moving in step with all of the good things in life. Thus in full stride, Luigi’s physical realm was penetrated by this unwanted, untimely visitor. There may well be no such thing as a quick study of the elements of this LGD since after first reading one would be so bewildered by the contradictions and medical uncertainties that a second and even third re-read would beckon. So… as we studied this LGD so did Luigi and still we nor him could grasp or understand what this “visitor” was all about. The only resolve…. our only option… was to confront…fight…..try to defeat it and heal our Dear Luigi!!!!

THE GOOD FIGHT
Luigi had fought many battles in the academic, athletic, corporate, social, and life-sustaining arenas so… a “visit” from this LGD “guy” that was now ravaging his earth-bound body was merely “a call to arms”….. a signal so to speak, for Luigi to summon all his strength and guile to confront and combat this “alien”. And how Luigi fought!!! He exhibited the same bravery and courage that had served him so well as he engaged in shepherding the fortunes of this younger siblings up through the very highest levels of soccer and through other aspects of their lives. Did he lose this battle? No…. he merely ascended to a higher plane of life than as we know it here on Earth and surely his realization is that it was time for him to continue his “sibling-leading” forages by “delving into the life beyond”. He was the first of his siblings to “MOVE TO THAT PLANE”…… ANOTHER FIRST…..

READY TO MOVE ON
So….Luigi’s spirit is “there” (in that Place) paving the way for his siblings as he always felt he had to do. Though We… all who survived him, will always maintain his memory forever in our hearts and on these pages!!!
